Sr Product Development Engineer _- large commercial HVAC products for manufacturer - product development and sustaining for large commercial HVAC systems including Chillers

This highly respected world class manufacturer is adding a Sr Engineer to be a big player in their new product development program. 

This engineer will work under the engineering manager to lead design and development of global Commercial HVAC products including large chillers products as well as product sustaining support globally.
  • 50% of job is New product development – This include design of new products, supporting prototype
  • 10% Manufacturing Support for North America.
  • 5% Support for Product Technical Support for issues with the product in the field.
  • 15% Support for Ratings development for selection software (technical support and not code development
  • 10% Support for Application Engineering/Special Quotations. 
  • 10% Design Improvements/Cost Reduction for released products.
Primary Responsibilities:
  1. Maintains in-depth understanding of theories, concepts, technical principles and processes related to mechanical aspects of chillers
  2. Has proficiency in mechanical design and be able to conceptualize and implement design ideas into the product
  3. Leads engineering activities in refrigeration components selection and system design to meet product specification.
  4. Develops and executes test programs independently to verify performance and reliability of mechanical sub-components and systems
  5. Analyzes test data, develops calculation methods and simulation models to predict components and system performance.
  6. Project management: Communicates projects status and works with cross functional teams to ensure on-time completion of projects
  7. Generates technical documentation for use within the company
  8. Applies mechanical codes such as UL, CE, PED and ASME
  9. Possesses knowledge of manufacturing processes and applies the philosophy of designing to standard manufacturing process
  10. Provides technical support to manufacturing, field trouble shooting and application inquiries.
  11. Strives for continuous improvement and teamwork in a global product development environment.
1. BS in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering or related science OR Master’s degree
2. Minimum 8 years’ experience in a related field OR Master’s degree and 6 years’ experience.
3. Extensive knowledge/experience in refrigeration system and components (compressors, heat exchangers)
4. Experience in a design and product development environment
5. Basic understanding of fundamental business knowledge
